Treasures of Montezuma: Arena has been confirmed for release on PS Vita. The match-three puzzle adventure will be free and comes with three new game modes, along with other enhancements.

Sony and developer Alawar announced the game’s release over on PS Blog EU, and confirmed that it will include RPG Story mode, multiplayer tournaments and a classic match-three Endless mode.

It should appeal to fans of the Puzzle Quest series, given its emphasis on RPG tropes and narrative, with a plot that revolves around Aztec emperor Montezuma. He’s been forced to flee to a realm filled with monsters to escape the advance of Spanish forces, which triggers a puzzle-filled adventure.

It’s amazing how excited I am because of this news. I ADORE Treasures games. I am already at level 102 in Blitz and to be honest, I wanted a little bit more of a challenge in that game, so I am delighted by this news. Let the treasures come to me, YAY :D

@Lightmanone Don’t its horribly slow to play, the touch is inaccurate and there’s slowdown all over the place – on a tile game!!!! Stick with the first one, which is also one of my Vita guilty pleasures.
