Assassin’s Creed: Unity to feature four player co-op – rumour

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will be on show at E3 2014, with whisperers suggesting a four player co-operative mode will be demonstrated.

The news first surfaced via a well-known NeoGAF tipster, but The Escapist claims to have verified its provenance with an Ubisoft insider.

According to the rumour, Ubisoft will bring two Assassin’s Creed: Unity demos at E3 2014 in June. One will showcase a traditional single-player mode, but the other will introduce a “narrative” four player co-op mode.

Although the rumour spoke of demos, it’s not clear if we’re talking about a playable build, a hands-off demo, or pre-captured footage.

It’s likely that Ubisoft will show Unity both at its own press conference and as part of a platform holder’s presentation; in recent years it has graced Sony’s pressers, but it’s also very friendly with Nintendo, and Microsoft is no doubt keen to capture a bigger slice of the enormous Assassin’s Creed pie.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity leaked via screenshots and video, before Ubisoft graciously gave in and announced it. Set in Paris during the French Revolution, Unity has been teased as far back as Brotherhood, and may have wall-running. We’re expecting it on next-gen systems only, and there’s a rumour that PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360 owners will instead receive Assassin’s Creed: Comet.

Thanks, IGN.
