Infamous: Second Son to be updated with small features, fixes in “the weeks to come”

Tuesday, 1st April 2014 16:40 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Infamous: Second Son will be updated with small features in “the weeks to come,” according to Sucker Punch.

Here’s what you have to look forward to:

  • Change time-of-day: Once you beat the game, a new entry will appear on the options menu to allow you to select the time of day.
  • HUD on/off: An option to let players turn the HUD on and off – especially useful for screenshot purposes
  • Cap at 30fps: Internally, Sucker Punch “prefer the unlocked frame rate,” but recognizes  a group of players find the unlocked frame rate “very distressing.” The team will provide a way to ensure the game is not bumping up over 30fps is that’s how one prefers to play.

The QA team is also working to “identify and resolve key bugs,” and important fixes are tentatively scheduled to be included in the patch along with a “few other little things too,” co-founder and producer Brian Flemming teased.

A release date for the updates will be announced soon, and the earliest the patch and new features can be released is “about two weeks from now.”

How about a way to allow us to go into a first person view for screenshot purposes, as well as after you finish the game, a walkthough in first person mode, where we can just go around in first person walking though the city.

Some (most) people can’t see over 30fps and you need super eyes to be able to tell the difference

So Sucker Punch capping it is a good thing, it means it is better for your eyes and feels more cinematic due to it running at the same speed as a movie, people who say 60fps is better are deluded and brainwashed by the media.

@YoungZer0 I would actually prefer consistency in the frame rate, so this is a big plus for me. When the frame rate fluctuates from 30-60 and everything in between instead of being locked, for me, it detracts from the overall visuals of the game (you get some slight judder).

While I wouldn’t say I find the unlocked frame rate “very distressing”, it’s always nice to have an option for this sort of thing.

Already beat the game withing a few days. Moving on. Besides if they want to add a feature, how bout a new game plus where they refund you back all the shards you spent on powers in the first run to spend where you like in the second playthrough?

Yeah, When I play a game I usually tend to forget when a game is 60fps after a while

I’m really impressed by the dev actually working to improve the game after it ship (see: Arkham Origins).

I see no difference between 30 and 60, so that proves that the human eye runs at 30fps and showing anything more to the eye will just upset it and make it jealous that it will never see more than 30.
no good comes from 60fps, even the hobbit didn’t want to go near 60fps.

Interesting. I wonder if more graphics customizations will become a trend this gen? Like with PC.
