Metro: Redux is real, full reveal promised before E3 as Deep Silver issues statement

Monday, 31st March 2014 18:00 GMT By Dave Cook

Metro: Redux publisher Deep Silver has issued a statement on today’s leak, which saw the PS4 and Xbox One re-releases of Metro 2033 and Last Light outed ahead of their official reveal.

You can check out the leaked Metro: Redux pack-shots and details here.

In a statement sent to VG247 today, publisher Deep Silver had this to say:

Metro Redux. You may have heard of it… even though you probably shouldn’t have!

We could issue a ‘We do not comment on rumour and speculation’ statement and pretend this never happened. They’re pretty boring to read. They’re also pretty boring to write.

So we’re going to comment on rumour and speculation instead.

Is Metro Redux real?

Yes. We never made any secret of 4A’s desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware.

But what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material.

(Eagle eyed fans will recognize the artwork on the ‘packshot’ as the art from the original Russian edition of the Metro 2033 novel. And that ‘logo’ is just the old Metro 2033 logo with the ’2033′ scrubbed out and ‘Redux’ added… )

As you can see, we’re not quite ready to reveal 4A Games’ first next-gen console project, but we will be making an announcement this side of E3.

And we think the reality is a lot more exciting than the out-dated material that got leaked shows, and we’re itching to share it with you. Just not yet.

I really want to see 4A Games next project
from what i heard they are working on a game that Andrew Prokhorov, the creative director, once described as “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in space”. The studio wants to make a living, open-world planet, with different regions.

Wait a minute, so this is actually both 2033 and LL packaged into one game?
Well, that’d be nice then, especially if all the glitches and bugs would magically disappear too.

Kept thinking of Liz Lemon when I type LL though.

Yay! :D Now to wait until the release date gets announced and put some money down for it. Hopefully they’ll include the Russian voice as an audio option as I’ve played Metro 2033 in Russian + English subtitles on PC, it was a brilliant experience. (Authentic? probably, seeing the game series is based in Russia)
