Battlefield 4 Squads in beta testing – rumour

Monday, 31st March 2014 22:44 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Battlefield 4 may soon see the return of the popular Squads grouping option on consoles, with one player posting images apparently showing a test already underway.

VGLeaks gathered a collection of the off-screen photos from Reddit, showing the German language multiplayer menu on PS3 in Battlefield 4.

A new menu item, Squad Access, is shown, marked as a beta feature.

Squads were introduced in Battlefield 3 and allow small groups of friends to group up so that they end up in the same teams during matchmaking.

DICE has been re-introducing multiplayer features like Platoons that didn’t make the jump between Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, so this development seems quite likely to be true. However, as with any screenshots posted randomly on the Internet, it’s best to wait official word before getting too excited.

Oh brilliant, I really loved that feature in BF3, really missed it on BF4. Looking forward to the patch’s release. Probably will purchase premium at the time.

FML, just realised it’s “cynical bastard mode week” atm. *sigh* (And is there any way to edit previous comments?)

@shadowseer this was posted well before April 1st hit the relevant time zones, so I think it might be okay.

This squad access beta just showed up on my multiplayer menu on ps3 but now I can’t access my battlelog via home screen menu on bf4 ps3. Fix one thing break another. Way to go Dice.
