Twitch Plays Pokemon stream to keep running "as long as has an active following," says creator

Twitch Plays Pokemon will continue as long as viewers are interested, according to the channel's creator.

Speaking with Polygon, the Australian programmer - who wishes to remain anonymous — said at present he intends on running the stream for as long as possible.

"I intend on running the stream for as long as it still has an active following," he stated.

Pokemon Crystal was the latest title players bested, and a time limit to complete it was set in order to start Pokemon Emerald.

"I was mostly certain they would have succeeded, if not I could have always delayed Emerald or ran them both simultaneously," he said.

While Crystal's viewership wasn't as large as Red, its creator said he believed it was due to "the novelty wearing off for a lot of people, and it has been reported on less in the media."

With Emerald, the play system on the channel has improved but the programmer stated there are some "small tweaks in mind," but he won't make any changes unless it improves "things more significantly."

Emerald has been running for two days now, and a run of Pokemon FireRed "with a randomizer," is in the works.
