Swordsman MMORPG based off Louis Cha novels announced by Perfect World

Perfect World Entertainment has announced its latest free-to-play MMORPG, Swordsman, which is a martial arts-inspired title based off the wuxia novels from Louis Cha.

Swordsman was developed using the Angelica 3 engine, and players will participate in a fantasy story with ten combat fighting styles

The MMORPG takes place during the Ming Dynasty era where players are a member of one of the ten class-defining martial art schools. Each character must master legendary fighting skills to engage in real-time combat with members of rival schools and the Ming government.

"We're constantly looking to add to our library of games," said Perfect World's GM of publishing, Andrew Brown. "Bringing Swordsman to a Western audience is something we've wanted to do all along. With its rich story and engaging gameplay, Swordsman is a cultivation of our previous and successful titles we've brought over from our parent company.

"We're currently in an alpha testing phase and the game simply looks amazing. We look forward to bringing it in to closed beta to give players the chance to check it out for themselves, so stay tuned."

An announcement video is below and you can sign up for the closed beta through here.
