Dark Souls 2 Walkthrough Part 9: Undead Purgatory

Brace yourself for the battle with the Executioner's Chariot.

There’s an invade ahead of you and it has all of your abilities and quite possibly a longer reach, so wait for an opening, shift around it and attack from the back.

Once the invader is in the dirt get back on the bridge and jump across to find a Sublime Bone Dust and Fire Seed. Jump back and walk into the mist.

This is another epic confrontation taking place in a unique environment. You will fight the Executioner’s Chariot in a curved corridor, and be forced to dodge it by nipping into the alcoves. You’ll also have to face skeletons. The Chariot comes around every 10-15 seconds.

It’s important to keep one eye on the alcoves so you know where head for safety during this fight. To being with, ignore the skeletons and as soon as the Chariot comes into view (you’ll see fire) take cover in an alcove. Keep pressing forward and repeating until you get to the end of the corridor, avoiding the skeletons if you can.

You’ll see a hole in the ground and a door on the left. Just before that is a lever on the left - pull it to lower the gate which the chariot will crash into, killing the Executioner. Now you have to fight the horse that pulls the chariot.

The secret here is to dodge whenever the horse raises on its back legs and stomps down. Never stand directly behind or in front of it either, and look out for a headbutt attack that usually follows a pause. The horse is at its most vulnerable immediately after it spits poison. Wait for the attack, move to its side and hack away as much as possible.

Once the Chariot and Horse are pushing up daisys, you can kill the remaining skeletons. At the end of the corridor there’s a Soul of a Brave Warrior. Now you can go through the door to the corridor that leads to a bonfire and speak with the man there. You are done in the Undead Purgatory for now.
