Xbox One currently has no release window in Japan, and according to Microsoft has been listed a ‘Tier 2′ launch territory. However, Amazon Japan has posted a product listing for the console.
UPDATE: Our local Microsoft rep has responded to this one, and said, “We look forward to confirming timing and other details of the launch of Xbox One in Japan at a later date.”
ORIGINAL STORY: It follows my report on what Japan really thinks for the Xbox brand. Some of the feedback paints a very different picture to how the West views Microsoft’s console.
Before we begin; this may well be place-holder, so do keep your hat on. Although this is a pretty significant place-holder at any rate, much larger than a game release. Make of the following what you will.
You’ll find the product listing here. What’s interesting is that Amazon Japan previously had Xbox One import listings until now, which suggests that Microsoft is planning on going straight to the market.
We’ve asked Microsoft for comment.
