Wolfenstein: The New Order Xbox One runs at 1080p, 60FPS says Bethesda

Thursday, 27th February 2014 12:19 GMT By Dave Cook

Wolfenstein: The New Order is the next game to enter the ‘p’ and ‘FPS’ war; a battle that none of us ever really win. Bethesda says it does 1080p and 60FPS on Xbox One.

In a statement to GamingBolt, Bethesda simply said, “The Xbox One version of Wolfenstein will run at 1080p/60 fps.”

Shots fired, or something.

Meanwhile; we’ve been playing Wolfenstein: The New Order, and if you pre-order the game ahead of its May 20 release in the States – May 23 in Europe – you’ll get access to the new DOOM’s beta.

Will you be picking it up?

    Woohoooo…. platform parity!

It can happen… I just hope they haven’t dialled back elsewhere.

Wow, if it runs on 1080p/60fps on X1 then PS4 runs at 4k/120FPS.

wow, finally a developer that… develops? not but really, good job, so both machines can run at 60fps and a 1080p … sweet… now on to the next issue with MS….

“wow, finally a developer that… develops?”

…or sandbags the better system to find parity. Because that has never been done before. This is why the more powerful systems don’t always win out. Multi plat developing is always about the lowest common denominator. And this gen, between the X1 and PS4. The X1 is exactly that.

Devs are going to start programing to the weakness of the X1 and not to the power of the PS4. Great. It is PS2 vs Xbox(orig) all over again.

I’m guessing the PS4 version will run badly and be full of bugs/issues considering their track record.

1080p 60fps. I’m getting this one for my X1. Who am I fooling? I was getting it for my X1 if it was 480p 30 fps. I buy all FPS for the Xbox. Well, except Killzone. Can’t get that for the Box. But if I could, I would 😛

I agree, except when PC gets a shitty ass port (Dark Souls for example). Then it’s best to just play it on consoles.

Wait, wait, wait. So all the people who bitched about the Xbox One not being able to push 60/1080 are now bitching about something else?

For fuck’s sake people. Just enjoy the damn games. IF you are to be bothered about such trivial bullshit, you are no better than the people who cry about Justin Beiber’s possible deportation over what’s happening in Kiev and Fallujah.

Sony’s Playstation 4 is easier to develop for than Microsoft’s Xbox One, therefore it would be easier to hit 60/1080. Xbox One is harder to develop for and that’s why they don’t push for 60/1080. This has been know since the information was first published, do you people magically forget about it, or can you not retain simple information without assisted help?

PS4 is shit right now, not happy with my purchase, all this 1080p shit the the frame rates drop like crazy. Thief is a horrible port, avoid at all cost or get it for XO or PC.

PS4 cant handle 1080 all frames drop like crazy, theif is a prime example how much the console struggles.

Funny, notice that they don’t even need to bother mentioning what the PS4 will be running at lol.

Any game can run 1080p 60fps on either system, it’s just whether the game has to make concessions to do so. IF the game isnt pushing the limit on effects, complexity, antialisasing, and filtering, then it shouldnt be hard for the game to his that mark.

The real question is whether they gimped the PS4, or is the PS4 getting better filtering, tessellation, antialising, textures, etc. This will make a decent digital foundry comparion for sure.

Notice that they say it will run 1080p/60fps but not whther its native, so its still possible its being upscaled, though I would hope that they wouldnt mislead like that.

Considering RAGE (idtech5 also) was 60fps on X360 this isn’t surprising.

Not surprised they got it running at 1080p/60fps on XB1 Bethesda have some extremely talented people working for them. Also if this game is running on the Rage engine then it better be running at 60fps!

Also, I really hate when they say 1080p/60fps when in reality it is never at 60fps all the time on consoles. Very rarely it is 60fps all the time, most of the time its 60fps 80% of time and it will drop a lot in heavy battles. Makes me laugh when people think COD on consoles run 60fps all the time because it sure as hell does not!
