Call of Duty: Elite service to close on Friday, members get double XP session

Call of Duty: Elite, the social and competitive network for fans of Activision's franchise, will close for good this Friday, February. Members will receive a period of double XP to mark the occasion.

Activision made the announcement last night and as of February 28 at around 10am PST, Call of Duty: Elite will cease to be.

The service has been replaced with the official Call of Duty app, which was ushered in with Call of Duty: Ghosts.

As a thank you to members, Activision is offering them two hours of double XP to anyone who has logged into the service since January 1 this year. The publisher says that double XP rewards will appear on members' Call of Duty: Ghosts profiles "soon."
