Xbox One: official £399.99 console price cut hits UK on February 28, includes Titanfall

Monday, 24th February 2014 14:03 GMT By Dave Cook

Xbox One will receive an official price-cut in the UK on February 28, and while stocks last you’ll get Titanfall free of charge.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Harvey Eagle, Marketing Director, Xbox UK said, “At Xbox, we believe there’s never been a better time to join the new console generation. To help our fans do just that, Xbox One will be available at the new UK estimated retail price (ERP) of £399.99 from February 28th. And while supplies last, fans will also get Titanfall – the most anticipated game of the year – included in the box.”

The Titanfall bundle comes with a regular Xbox One console, Kinect Sensor, standard Xbox One wireless pad, an Xbox One chat headset, one month of Xbox Live Gold and a download code for Titanfall.

You can pre-order the bundle here.

What do you make of that deal then? Fancy it?

I’m sorry but is this really a price cut? 399.99 British pounds is about 665 US dollars.

@Mike W, Welcome to Europe. Where for some riddiculous reason, the exchange rate doesn’t apply in anything and companies just replace the $ with €. And UK gets screwed even worse by adding to it a bit more.

example of final costs: A TV set
    1000$ USA
    1399$ EU
    1499$ UK

and no, it is not because of import fees and costs (remember, most electronics come from Asia), it is just a robbery :(

    @Skywalker333,
Ask your government. Its because of just one thing, taxes. Also the reason why such things are way way more costly (more so than Europe) in India (which ironically, borders on China, so very less transportation fee), Brazil etc.

On topic, good to see MS being proactive. Wonder why anyone should see it otherwise. X1 is selling bad (compared to PS4), so MS , instead of twiddling thumbs and banishing their console (failure Wii U) to pathetic sales and not giving a damn (please understand) like Ninty, they are doing something.
Quite funny how some thought Wii U would outsell X1. Even more funny is those hardcore fans slamming MS for price cut, while ignoring the ones 3DS got (and survived) and Wii U didn’t (and is dead).

I wonder how this would the profitability though. X1 was already break-even. Now its essentially a 50 pound+ cut (TF is included). With noises to sell Xbox division, it wont help matters.

While the game’s included you save £72 off of what it would have cost had they kept the £429 RRP & made you buy the game separately, so it’s definitely a good thing & will no doubt be a good selling point for the Xbox One.

Once the whole titanfall stock “runs out” it’s only a £30 reduction though, Xbox One still isn’t worth £50 more than PS4, MS should release a Kinectless bundle for £299.

so basically buy a console and get a free multiplayer only game… first of all, those who really want an xbox one should just buy it from the US, i hear they have it cheaper and they dont have shortages…

a free titanfall… hahaha congrats fans, we love you so much we want you to play this game for free for ONE month, then pay more!!

It is still a cash grab by MS the lowered price is about the year of a live subscription. You get an awesome digital copy of an online game free and a month of live then you got to turn around and pay for the live once the month is up. In the end your really just getting the Live for a year free.
