Titanfall: Respawn responds to "insulting" claims that it's bribing the press

Titanfall has been getting a lot of press lately, basically because it's the first post-Xbox One launch Microsoft exclusive, comes from the famed Infinity Ward defectors and is actually really quite good. But still, the usual bribery accusations that come with reviewers liking a game and giving big projects the real estate they deserve has been met with claims of writers being paid off, and Respawn's Drew McCoy isn't all that impressed.

He took to NeoGAF to respond to the bribery claims. He said, "Anyone who thinks we weren't living in the shadow of decade+ old established franchises at our reveal at E3 are as crazy as their conspiracy theories of anyone getting paid off.

"We've had to fight tooth and nail to have a game that anyone would even know existed, let alone be excited for and want to create coverage of. I get it that its not for everyone, but to say we're paying anyone off is downright insanity. Not to mention the height of insulting."

It's common, tiresome ground, this. Say you like a game and you get branded as being in a publisher's pocket; say it's bad and you're a troll or fanboy.

Long story short, you can't please 'em all.
