Sumo Digital hiring for “one of the most successful driving franchises of all time”

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed developer Sumo Digital is now hiring for what it calls “one of the most successful driving franchises of all time,” and from the sounds of it the project isn’t Sonic Racing 3.

It follows rumours that Sumo Digital is currently working on LittleBigPlanet 3 for Sony.

NeoGAF unearthed this Sumo Digital job post, which calls for a game designer for the project, focusing on vehicle handling and performance.

The post begins by stressing that Sumo Digital currently has, “several other unannounced but extraordinarily exciting AAA games in production,” and continues, “Are you a car freak? Do you have at least three years of design experience on high profile console driving games?

“Sumo is looking for someone with great experience and a passion for tweaking the physics and performance characteristics of a wide range of vehicles in a successful driving franchise to join our team of Stig Fantasists in Sheffield. A background of successful game design experience is important, as is an understanding of (and passion for) car handling, set-up and the console racing genre.

“If you’re auto-obsessed and want to contribute to one of the most successful driving franchises of all time, get in touch ASAP – we want to talk to you.”

The question is; what is this mystery game?

What do you think?

This intrigues me, though I can’t put my finger on what they’re talking about.

It’s not going to be any of the flagship franchises (NFS, GT, Forza, anything Nintendo, prob not PGR).

    Best guesses would be:
Sega GT (prob not, scale is too big, plus competing with Forza and GT)
    Motorstorm (Evo working on DriveClub)
    Co-dev of Forza Horizon 2

Daytonaaah! Yes please! Or maybe Sega Rally! Sumo have done Outrun before but that wasn’t as big as Daytona. A next-gen Daytona! Oh God I need a stiff drink.

“Stig” Fantasists and a mention of “a succesful driving franchise” instead of specifically mentioning a video game series could only mean *drum rolls*

    A Top Gear video game!
    *cue Top Gear opening music*

Do we focus on the word ‘driving’ or the word ‘successful’. hmmm. No mention of the word racing, so probably Ridge Racer lol
