Team Fortress 2 update adds Valve server-only quickplay option

Friday, 24th January 2014 01:24 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Team Fortress 2 has been updated, and while the patch notes are mostly fixes and tweaks, there’s one standout feature – a quickplay option for official Valve servers only. No more accidentally jumping into the Official Fursuit TF2 Group’s annual meeting, which is probably a thing that happens.

That’s actually not a bad thing. I accidentally ended up on an MLP server at one point with random play and they were some of the loveliest people I’d had the fortune of meeting in TF2. There’s also a group of furry servers (which I won’t name by name, so they won’t get trolled) which also tends to have fairly lovely people.

I don’t know, but when a person has a somewhat creative, empathic personality and they’re often trolled themselves, they’re not given to really going out of their way to troll others.

I’ve had Universally good experiences with those servers. It’s also nice that they look out for new people, too. (You know, rather than going out of their way to insult and abuse them.) Frankly, I’d rather put up with the odd chance of a slightly lewd comment than being called every homophobic slur under the sun. Admittedly, again, TF2 isn’t as bad as Call of Duty, but context matters.

The furry/MLP servers are as far away from TF2 as TF2 is away from CoD.

May they never be soiled by bile and hatred.
