Moon Chronicles announced as episodic first-person shooter from Renegade Kid

Renegade Kid has made good on its promise to reveal its 3DS FPS this week: it's called Moon Chronicles.

Announced through IGN, the episodic first-person shooter will be released exclusively through the eShop this year.

Players take on the role of Major Kane in a mission to investigate a "hatch of unknown origin" on Earth’s moon.

Season One is a remake of the original DS title Moon, and Episodes 2-4 will be released as follows:

Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 - 4 + 6 VR Missions: ~4 hours of gameplay).
Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 - 8: ~2 hours of gameplay).
Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 - 12: ~2 hours of gameplay).
Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 - 16: ~2 hours of gameplay).

The developer hopes to release a second season in 2015 with new content taking place after the game.

“We’re big fans of TV shows like Lost, “ Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham told IGN. “We love shows that really cement the feeling where you watch an episode, you have a cliffhanger, and you absolutely need to watch the next one.” Watsham and his team admire the way TV shows would intertwine long and short story arcs, and the way those arcs would keep viewers engaged.

“That’s our plan for season two and beyond, [for us] to approach it in a similar way. ‘What’s the whole point of the season? Where do we start and where do we end up?’”

To further pique your interest, IGN has posted a QR code that'll allow you to the screenshots of the game on your 3DS. If you wish to give it a go, head through the link.
