Yo-Kai Watch trademark gives hope of western release for Level-5 ghost hunter

Level 5 has made a US trademark for Yo-Kai Watch, presumably ahead of a western localisation of Youkai Watch, its 3DS exclusive about taming Japanese spirits.

The US trademark, spotted by Siliconera was filed on January 17.

Youkai Watch, as we were calling it before we got this suggestion of an official English title, is an RPG starring a young boy whose magical watch allows him to see and interact with spirits and other beasties from Japanese folklore and mythology. Players capture and battle with these ghosts.

It released in Japan in July 2013, and charted well; a sequel or follow up of some kind is on the way. It may be we receive a special edition re-release in the west rather than the original, as with Bravely Default: For The Sequel.

Level-5 has also recently filed a US trademark for Inazuma Eleven, which popped up on Nintendo's release schedule briefly, and the missing game from it Guild01 compilation, Weapon Shop Omasse, was classified in Australia.

We're expecting Level-5 International to make some announcements soon.

Thanks, Gematsu.
