Shroud of the Avatar reaches $3 million in crowdfunding

Shroud of the Avatar has passed another major funding milestone as it approaches a second early access period.

"Shroud of the Avatar has crossed the $3M milestone thanks to your generous support. The team and I would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of our Backers for your belief in both our team and our vision for New Britannia," Richard "Lord British" Garriott wrote in the game's latest update.

The shared-worlds RPG - Garriott insists it's not an MMO - hosted a brief early access period last month. A second open period is expected on January 22, giving backers access to a build called Release 2.

More details of the open period, latest game updates and lore are available in the full update.

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues is a PC exclusive, and is expected to open its doors for good in March, when release 4 drops.

Thanks, Polygon.
