Loadout boasts 44 billion possible guns, releases this month

Loadout, a lighthearted free-to-play shooter from a development team packed with veterans, can be yours before the end of the month.

Developer Edge of Reality today announced a January 31 launch for PC exclusive Loadout, which is currently available - for a premium - through Steam Early Access.

In the works for three years, Loadout is the brainchild of a team with past credits including Mass Effect, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, The Sims and Dragon Age. It's Edge of Reality's first full game; although it has contributed to many others, this is the first time it's had sole development duties on an original IP.

Loadout's main claim to fame is the weapon crafting system, which allows for "over 44 billion possible creations", and "extreme" modifications to weapon behaviour. It's also big on acrobatic movement.

Check out some screens below, and if you fancy a glimpse of the game in action, Edge of Reality has uploaded a footage of its latest livestreamed play session.

You know, I wouldn't be hellishly surprised if this one turned up on a PlayStation platform.
