“Do you think it can smell me?”

:D aha ha ha ha I’m loving this increase in video content.

To be honest I really like Machine For Pigs, it had a far more interesting story, its voice acting was great, its music and audio in general was fantastic. The pairing back of stupid Adventure game reject puzzles and inventory management fitted in perfectly with the change in focus.

It could have done with a few more enemy encounters here and there but other than that the last couple of hours are better than anything in the first game. From the streets of London under siege, to the trek back down through the guts of the machine. The atmosphere is thick and very cleverly executed.

Sadly I think people were expecting this game to fail as a knee jerk reaction to Frictional handing over the reigns. It changed from a First Person pseudo Survival Horror into just a Horror game and it benefited from that change more than it was harmed.

The game plays with uncertainties far more than the first game, its more about teasing then leaving you hanging, like at the start of the first Amnesia. Later on in the first Amnesia if you saw a grunt then you knew a grunt was wandering about. Machine for Pigs plays on you thinking you know whats going to happen and then up-ends it instead. I guess most people never got that.
