Magic: The Gathering movie rights bought by Fox

Tuesday, 14th January 2014 01:42 GMT By Mike Irving

The world of Magic: the Gathering, the physical and digital deck-building card game, will eventually be coming to the big screen thanks to 20th Century Fox.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Fox has come to an agreement with Hasbro to produce a series of movies based on the property, in the hopes that it will become a blockbuster franchise in the vein of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

Whether this is good or bad news for fans and players, only time will tell.

Thanks, Game Informer.

Presumably the first act will be 20 minutes of people placing lands. Sounds gripping.
