HMV owner Hilco has confirmed that its Oxford Street store will close after opening over 30 years ago.

The Telegraph reports that the store at 150 Oxford Street will become a Sports Direct outlet, while HMV will open a new, smaller site at 363 Oxford Street.

HMV’s 60,000ft Oxford Street store has played home to many high-profile game launches and features a gameplay suite.

Shame but it’s a sign of the times… Tower records in Piccadilly was a worse loss…

The land rent must have been hitting them Hard also I assume with the stock (both on shelf & back) not moving to help break even on the costs.

60,000ft, Sports Direct will still manage to over-cram it with the worlds most retarded maze-like floor plan which becomes gridlocked by their own staff alone before a customer has set foot through the door.
