Halo: Spartan Assault slips quietly onto Xbox One

Halo: Spartan Assault has turned up on the Xbox One marketplace, a day ahead of its expected launch.

The top-down, twin-stick shooter will set you back $15 on Xbox Live, unless you've already purchased the Windows 8 version, in which case it's only $5.

The Xbox One version offers native 1080p at 60FPS and includes a brand new cooperative mode and new weapons, as well as the Operation Hydra content release as DLC for the Windows 8 version.

Halo: Spartan Assault is part of 343 Industries' plan to take the franchise wherever it can go. It allows players to take on the role of Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis, and is an origin tale of the Spartan Ops set between Halo 3 and Halo 4.
