Call of Duty: Ghosts updated with brand new mode

Monday, 23rd December 2013 21:53 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Call of Duty: Ghosts has been patched, but along with the usual boring bug fixes and tweaks there’s an experimental new gameplay mode to enjoy.

Heavy Duty mode distinguishes itself by increased health – enhancing the “bullet sponge” effect, and potentially changing the battlefield dynamic.

Infinity Ward is looking for feedback on this new way of playing, so check it out.

Otherwise, the patch is mostly business, but it has added a couple of new loadouts to Infected Mode.

Full patch notes are available on the Call of Duty forums. The update is available across PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but not Wii U.

Thanks, Polygon.

One the one hand, this took less than 5 minutes to code given the framework, but if it’s fun it’s all good right? Seems like a throwback to the 90s with zero gravity modes, bighead modes, and one hit kill modes.

Too bad games like these usually hide the extra/shits’n'giggles stuff behind paywalls or set them up as store-specific pre-order incentives nowadays.

Edit; Realize this ^ has little significance to this article but felt like stating it anyway.

Polishing a turd like CoD Ghosts, is pointless.

Heavy Duty mode must be the best thing that’s happened to CoD. It’s not fun to kill/be killed instantly like every CoD game since MW2 (Except the Black Ops games).

I actually like the quick kills in COD. I don’t like shooting the same guy all day in Halo and the like. It only should take 2 or 3 bullets to end the battle.

That said, the mode will be fun to try for a bit.
