Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth site opens with character bios, trailer & more

Friday, 20th December 2013 12:58 GMT By Dave Cook

Persona Q: Shadow ofthe Labyrinth publisher Atlus has opened a site for its 3DS dungeon crawler, along with a trailer, character art, bios and more.

You’ll find the Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth site through the link.

The site houses a character bio section split up into returning cast members from Persona 3 and 4, along with newcomers Rei and Zen. There’s a ton of characters blurred out however, suggesting that new reveals are on the way.

We’ve also got a batch of Persona Q screens here.

This franchise is quickly becoming the CoD of Japan. Good god.

^ I wouldn’t damn the franchise, but I certainly wouldn’t touch a cash grab like this game.

    @2 Or that dance game.

Why bothering expanding the series when you can just rehash the same old characters over and over again?

What ever happened to the Shin Megami Tensei name? That was the main series, not Persona, and it never had to rely on tired anime tropes or pervy otaku fanservice. But I guess that’s what it didn’t sell as well as Persona.

Even though i Respect and love Atlus but Atlus are a a bunch of sellouts , how could they let a Persona game “Exclusively” release on a Nintendo platform even though we know its a part of SMT series but dammit why not let the legacy stay on PlayStation and why not on the Vita too P4G sells pretty well on Vita , the moment when they announce they will make a Persona game for 3DS it makes me lose faith on the whole franchise future , just by making this game on 3DS it literally means to me a cheap smartphone game and i always consider 3DS games that way .

@4 – For crissakes, stop being such a fanboy. It’s a non-canon spinoff dungeon crawler. It’s not like they announced Persona 5 would be exclusive to the Wii U or something. Persona 5 is still PS3 exclusive. So is Persona 4 Arena’s sequel. Those are the important titles.

Has it ever occurred to you that a title like this, which will surely sell a ton on the 3DS, is what helps fund them making games like Persona 5 exclusive?

And Persona 4 Golden sold very well for a Vita title, but that’s not saying much.

“which will surely sell a ton on the 3DS”
It wont. You can bet on that. It wont even be near P4G sales. Probably less than half of it. Its not even made by Persona team, a separate team of EO is working on it, and those games sell very less compared to Persona.
Its just EO with a lick of persona paint.

“Has it ever occurred to you that a title like this, which will surely sell a ton on the 3DS, is what helps fund them making games like Persona 5 exclusive?”
Nope. Never happens like that. P5 is PS3 exclusive since that is where it will sell. Its supposed to be profitable on its own, same with any game.

And btw, P4G will eventually sell more than original PS2 game, despite a much much smaller base, so its very significant. Its already over 700k. PS2 game is about 800k ltd.

P5 will come to Vita eventually, and that will be the complete version like P4G (and just like every Disgaea game), so I don’t give a hoot about this spin-off and that dance game.

@6 Disgaea is not even made by Atlus but by Nippon Ichi.

And last time i checked the 3DS wiped the floor with the Vita in terms of install base so it remains to be seen how well it sells.
Not that i give a crap since i own both.

    That blatant Sony fanboyism.

“Disgaea is not even made by Atlus but by Nippon Ichi.”
I never said the contrary, I am just pointing out the similarity in biz style, which is the exact same.

Also, P4G sold over 700k, while EO4 has just sold .25k (and team is making PQ), which shows despite install bases, that fanbase for such games is smaller on 3DS.

I feel this game will sell badly compared to other Persona games, since historic sales data points to that.
Same goes for that Rhythm game too, but Miku games sell best on Vita, so…

  10. Dragon

    Correction, I meant 250k, not .25k :P

Anyway, doesn’t matter to me since Persona team isn’t working on it.

@3 Wow the autism is strong with this one. 1. It’s a spinoff of P4, and there are three other Persona games coming out if it doesn’t fit your tastes. 2. Why bother contin…What the fuck are you smoking? Did you miss the P5 announcment or something? They’re spin off games, get the fuck over yourself. 3. Shin Megami Tense? You mean that one that came out earlier this year? Way to know what you’re talking about. 4. And now you need to just kill yourself. Not only did you just insult one of the most emotionally engrossing, maturely themed, and revolutionary storytelling series ever, but you did so without even making any valid points or anything, and instead used your bullshit ass-aching about a game you don’t have to buy to justify it. Fuck off faggot.

    @11 Wow, I bet you’re a riot at parties.

“Not only did you just insult one of the most emotionally engrossing, maturely themed, and revolutionary storytelling series ever.”

    Revolutionary storytelling:

Considering that you’re preaching about maturity, your should try extending it yourself. Calling people faggots and telling them to go kill themselves makes you sound like a juvenile delinquent, funny since you’re defending a game that actually does tell a good story about a gay person.

I never said it was a terrible game. I said it had problems. It’s possible to like something while being still being aware of its fault, Mr. Maturity.

    Haha, wow.

Persona looks like shit to me. Only hentai fans and sad lonely horny teenagers are into the games. What do you have to say to that?

I had an autistic friend btw, and he had the same exact anger outburst like you had right there. I’m guessing a visit to a psychiatrist is in order for you.

  14. Ireland Michael

@13 It isn’t anywhere near *that* bad.

When it does well, it tells some genuinely interesting stories. The gameplay is rock solid. Unfortunately, popularity brings with it fanservice and milking ideas to death, which dilutes the overall experience.

I’m neither a hentai fan nor a sad and lonely teenager. I may dislike where it’s going, but Shin Megami Tensei itself is one of my favourite franchises, and I can still appreciate where it’s going.

I know one person who is a professional journalist with a successful life, and he thinks the game is a work of art. I may not agree with them, but to each their own. Why can’t people discuss differences of opinion without resorting to personal insults?

  15. Hcw87

You’re ruining it, i wanted to have some fun with the guy.

Anyway, i have nothing against the game personally, haven’t even played them. But from your screenshot alone, i can’t say i’m overly excited to play it.

Just creeps me the fuck out when you have characters that look like underage teenagers naked in a shower. Same thing with Tera and the small 5 year old girls running around with skimpy outfits.

    #15 1 year ago
  16. Ireland Michael

@15 Yeah, its frustrating because the original PS2 game didn’t have that sort of stuff in it. The prevalence of that sort of stuff has increased significantly since the series has grown in popularity, and it ruins an otherwise great experience.

  17. Dragon

Yup, we cannot stand virtual undies and teh gurls even though its imaginary stories and already passed through ratings board. I just know moar than them. Killing each other or zombies or anything in between is fine though and veeery mature.
    Also, I love porn.
    -Teh internet Mature guy 101.

@17 I don’t much care for graphic violence either. That’s not really the point.

I’m a grown man. I don’t want to look as over sexualised teenagers. It’s like walking in on your own son or daughter naked. It’s made even more uncomfortable when these characters are put in the all too common scenario of non consensual exposure that constantly appears in modern anime.

I just want a decent story with decent characters.

  19. Hcw87

Are you comparing slaughtering zombies to watching 12-year old looking characters naked in a shower?

    Ok then.

    #19 1 year ago
  20. Clupula

This thread has taken a very sad turn.

Not to mention, none of those characters are twelve years old.

But it’s too early in the afternoon to argue these sort of semantics with people.

If people don’t like the game or have any interest in the game, why are they posting in the thread about it? Do you see me going in the Titanfall and Destiny threads and going on about what boring bullshit they look like? No, because people should be able to enjoy what they want to enjoy. If you don’t like something, don’t bother people who do.

And really, I will never get people freaking out over sexuality in any media. Jesus fucking Christ. It’s the 21st Century already. Can we stop acting like Queen Victoria is in still charge of the Empire?

    @20 Just to clarify something…

    #21 1 year ago
  22. Clupula

@21 – My comment was only half directed at you. The sexuality part. The part where I went off about why people comment on games they don’t play was directed at HCW87′s “I don’t play them. I don’t know anything about them, but the screenshot makes it look like it sucks. Oh, and I hate anime,” comments.

    #22 1 year ago
  23. Hcw87

Yes, the part where the kids are naked in the shower does make the game seem to suck major ass. It’s just how i am, i don’t get any kind of satisfaction from watching that. Sure they aren’t kids, but they LOOK like it. Which is why i find it weird.

    Quite sickening to be honest.

    #23 1 year ago
  24. Clupula

@23 – Well, hey, you can spend your time staring at the wide and hairy ass of Marcus Fenix and I’ll spend my time playing games that actually require some sort of reading comprehension. For example, my earlier comment that the girls in the game were not 12.

But hey, to an absolute dumbass, “ANIME = CHILDREN,” so I can understand why you’d look over your sippy cup and bib and think that there’s some sort of pedophilia going on.

You know, there’s a reason why I don’t go and talk to astrophysicists about the things they’re into. I have no knowledge of it.

Now, go sit in the back of the classroom with your safety scissors and glitter. The only thing sickening here is the stench of ignorance that wafts off your every word.

Oh you anime fans creep me out. You also take your shit way too seriously. And somehow you’re so defensive, why?

Enjoy your game dude, and accept that some people get creeped out by this crap.

Disclaimer: *I* don’t like anime, doesn’t mean that there’s someone else out there that enjoys it. But i’m free to hate on it all i want.

I wouldn’t mind getting into these games, but considering it’s obviously a standard japanese creep fest i’ll stay away from it for now. Feel free to correct me if i’m wrong, but somehow i doubt that’s the only creepy scene in these games.

The series usually *isn’t* a creep fest. That’s why it frustrates me that the Golden version decided to insert those kind of scenes into the game. It’s better without them.
