Minecraft: PS3 Edition hits North America on December 17

A new post on the NA PS Blog has announced that the PS3 edition of Minecraft will be available in North America from December 17. PS4 and Vita versions are on their way, but they remain without release dates for now.

The blog refers specifically to North America, but it’s probably safe to assume that it’ll arrive in other regions at around the same time.

The post also answers a handful of questions about the PS3 edition of the game.

Q: Does Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature everything from the other versions of Minecraft?
Minecraft: PS3 Edition comes with everything present in other console versions. They’re pretty much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on.

Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature DLC texture packs and skins?
Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from PSN soon after release.

Q: Will there be PlayStation-specific content?
PlayStation-specific skins and texture packs would be cool! Fingers crossed, eh?

Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature Remote Play or compatibility with the PS4 or PS Vita editions?
We don’t know yet, sorry. We’ll let you know as soon as we do.

Q: Does Herobrine feature in Minecraft: PS3 Edition?
Probably not.

Over the weekend it was announced that the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft has sold over 10 million copies, putting overall sales at somewhere over 30 million copies. That number is only set to rise.

Nintendo really needed this for Christmas as well… Big loss for them, especially if it had have included off screen play.

Perfect timing for Sony as they can offer a PS3 Slim and Minecraft for a budget price.

Minecraft is like crack for kids.

^ You really think any software can save the Wii U?

Nothing can “save” Wii U now.

I don’t think it would save it (I didn’t use that word), it would have helped over Christmas though I think.

Minecraft is a game all kids to want to play and the Wii U could have had one of the best console versions out there. Just a thought anyway…

Didn’t you just slag someone off the other day for using that chart?

Did I? Where? If your referring to this:

“Next Gen has taken over, Mario isn’t surprising and that list is something seen too many times.”

Yeah, didn’t you mean the ‘list’ you just posted? I must have got the wrong end of the stick then! :)

Which list did you mean? The chart list?

I am not sure i’m following you?

That list used by me and countless others but that comment was in reference to that person.

I did not slag him off, just commented on the fact that list is being seen too much.

Although that actually sounds like something someone-else would do.

I commented on chart list below that comment through the link.

Sorry, ‘slag someone off’ was the wrong terminology, can I change that to:

‘It’s ironic you use that list again even though you told someone it had been seen too many times the other day.’

Better and less confusing, yes it is but the topic of “Wii U” and “Save” came up and there was ideally one solution.
