Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Android & iOS remaster restores cut Hidden Palace Zone

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was originally intended to include extra levels like Wood Zone and Hidden Palace Zone. The latter has been restored in a new official remaster of Sega's 1992 platformer.

The stage was only accessible by bagging all of the Chaos Emeralds within Sonic 2's bonus stages, but was cut from the final game for reasons unknown. It later resurfaced in Sonic & Knuckles.

Now, a new Sonic 2 remaster is hitting Android and iOS tomorrow, and has been crafted by Sonic Retro, the same team that created mobile ports of the original game and Sonic CD. They're getting a reputation as a team that adds many interesting extras into their ports. You can play as Tails and Knucles in the first Sonic for example.

We'll update you with pricing once the game goes live tomorrow, with Hidden Palace Zone intact. It'll be free for those who already have the iOS version.
