Warcraft cast includes Ben Foster, Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, more

The majority of the cast for the Warcraft film has been revealed, with a few surprises, some expected names, and at least one actor still to sign on the dotted line.

Slashfilm reports Legendary and Universal Pictures announced the cast list today, confirming Ben Foster (The Messenger, 3:10 To Yuma, X-Men: The Last Stand, Six Feet Under); Travis Fimmel (Vikings); Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Precious, Hitch); Toby Kebbell (Wrath of the Titans, War Horse, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes); and Rob Kazinsky (True Blood, EastEnders, Pacific Rim).

Dominic Cooper's name was also cited as in the final stages of negotiation; his credits include Captain America and Mamma Mia.

Colin Farrell, who admitted recently to reading the script, was not listed, which is interesting as he was rumoured to be onboard alongside confirmed cast member Patton in September.

Director Duncan Jones rewrote a script by Charles Leavitt, and the production houses confirmed filming will begin in Vancouver in January.

The film has a huge list of producers from both the film and games industry. Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Alex Gartner will produce, while Stuart Fenegan, Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor and Blizzard’s Mike Morhaime and Paul Sams will serve as executive producers. Blizzard's Chris Metzen, Rob Pardo and Nick Carpenter will co-produce.

Warcraft tells the story of the first contact war between orcs and humans from both perspectives, and is expected in 2016.
