PS4 UK & European launch events detailed, consoles available without pre-orders

Thursday, 28th November 2013 09:08 GMT By Dave Cook

PlayStation 4 will launch in the UK, Europe and Latin America this Friday, November 29. Sony has outlined its official launch event plans.

It follows Pat’s PS4 console impressions, after spending all of last week with it.

We’ve received a press release regarding the UK event, which will be held at the PS4 Lounge on Thursday, November 28 in Covent Garden, London. Gamers will be able to buy a console on a first-come, first-served basis without pre-order from the show at midnight. Tinie Tempah’s also performing live.

The press release advises interested parties to queue up from Thursday morning. That’ll be for the queue photo opps then.

In a statement, MD and VP of Sony Computer Entertainment UK & Ireland Fergal Gara, said, “Day one PS4 pre-orders sold out in record time and this could be the last chance for anyone who wants to get their hands on a console before Christmas.

“We really wanted to offer some way for people to buy on launch day, and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone that hasn’t already pre-ordered to get their hands on a PS4 on day one. The excitement in the run up to our UK launch has been phenomenal, and we want to thank gamers for their support by giving them the chance to take a PS4 home at the earliest opportunity.”

The PS4 Lounge will be found at 17 Bedford Street, Covent Garden. Gamers queuing up will be given food and drink so they don’t keel over while waiting.

@9: According to most brits… no they are not Europeans. Except when they need financial and/or political aid.

Joke aside. I have no idea why they’re treated that way.

At the PS3 launch people got free TV’s so if you’re thinking about going to a launch then go, you may come home with more than just a console.
