Corrinne Yu leaves Microsoft to join Naughty Dog team

Saturday, 23rd November 2013 20:56 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Corrinne Yu, principle engine programmer for the Halo team at Microsoft, has left the company for a position with Naughty Dog as a graphics programmer. Before joining Microsoft in 2008, Yu was director of technology at Gearbox Software from 2006 – 2008. Looking over her Wikipedia page, it notes she studied electrical engineering at California State Polytechnic University, and worked on some really cool stuff before joining the games industry. She is a repeat entry on various lists containing the most influential women in video games. It’s unknown at present which project at Naughty Dog Yu will be working on. Thanks, AGB.

I just read a thread about that on r/games. Her backlog of experiences is insane. Naughty Dog’s next game will really be a jewel.

Her husband still works for MS. That will make for an interesting breakfast table atmosphere for the squids….

PS: Halo 5 at 720p confirmed.

PPS: ND visited NASA and SpaceX. ND hired the top graphics programmer from the Halo studio. Join the dots with the recent rumours and TLG hints…

Massive coup. Corrinne delivered great things for Halo 4 on the aged 360 – can’t wait to see what NG can achieve with her assistance.

Seems that Naughty Dog is the go to place in the industry. Must be one of if not the most well known developers around. Certainly up there with Bungie & Infinity Ward. A Nintendo developer would clearly be number 1 if anyone paid any attention to which specific division is behind each game- it’s curious that one of the more casual publishers doesn’t appear to let their devs have some personality.

Nintendo? Number 1 in what? By division behind each game, you mean game studios? And finally, I don’t know, it might not be a publisher problem.
