Research firm IHS has released a teardown video which shows the various components inside Sony’s PlayStation 4.

The video follows the firm’s report earlier this week that PlayStation 4 costs Sony $381 to make, which is $18 under the consumer cost of $399.

Along with the video is a list of components and the full written report. Have a look here.

PS4 launches in Europe on November 29.

i applause sony for this, atleast they didn’t lose as much as they did with the ps3.
although if they already planned to lose and sold the console for 350$, i guess that would’ve destroyed the market :P

so my understanding of this is… 18$ of PURE profit.

18$ multiplied by how many units sold so far, 4 or 5 millions = ????????

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate Sony’s efforts to make their console consumer and wallet adapted which help consumers feel better or not milked out of greed/envy which in the end still help the company look high and stay proud.

Will we have a wiiU and a Xb1 costs breakdown?
