Team Fortress 2 Two Cities update to bring new MvM content, weapon effects, more

Team Fortress 2's next update is called Two Cities, and while we don't yet have full details Valve has dropped a number of teases as to what's to come.

"It was the best of times. It was the best of times," is the tagline for this update, playing on the famous opening lines of Charles Dickens's A Tale of Two Cities, although Valve says this line is from his lesser-known "feel-good surf classic Super Good Times".

The Two Cities update page has a few further details. A description of the first new map, Manhattan, suggests the bulk of the content will be Mann vs Machine themed. Manhattan is the home of the manufacturing arm of Saxton Hale's boutique Mhankö line, apparently, and will house a new MvM experience.

Visiting both cities - a Two City Tour - will grant you a Killstreak Kit, which can be applied to any weapon to transform it into a Killstreak weapon. It also gives you a fabricator and spare parts that you can be used to make rarer Killstreak items, which include visual effects on the weapon and, at the highest tier, characters. It also grants a chance to get the rarest item in TF2 - the Australium.

There's another map on the way which is not part of the Two City Tour; Snakewater is a community=-authored map by Toivo Sawen.

The update also brings new statistics, something about team rewards unlocking refunds, and new achievements. It's due "imminently".

Thanks, TF2 blog.
