Deep Down dungeons change depending on their “emotion”

Deep Down’s allegedly infinite dungeon generator will vary depending on “emotion”.

In a Facebook post translated by Gematsu, Capcom explained a little more about the theme of emotion running through the game.

Apparently there will “great numbers” of emotions, and dungeons will vary depending on which ones it represents.

As an example, angry dungeons might be full of fire, while sad dungeons will be icy.

The dungeon’s emotions will affect how it can be won, and the mementoes – residual thoughts – found within will be depend on emotion, too.

The Tokyo Game Show Deep Down demonstrations were of joy dungeons, apparently; the light in them represents hope.

Deep Down is starting to sound pretty amazing. It’s a free-to-play PS4 exclusive, and Capcom claims its dungeon generator is capable of infinite variation. The story is some mad sci fi thing about futuristic time travellers, and it supports solo and multiplayer. It looks very Dark Souls, and its built on Capcom’s lovely new Panta Rhei engine.

    Nothing is really genuinally free to play so I wonder what the premium items would be. I always disliked paying real money for virtual goods. As I grew up I ended up actually do that exact thing. Sigh.

    The game sounds fun and looks amazing. I’d like to try it out for sure but the free-to-play part, for me, is very off-putting. I’d rather pay 60-70 euro’s for an amazing game than pay for progression.
