Valve's Steam Dev Days: first speakers announced, press still not invited

Valve has announced the first round of guest speakers for its Steam Dev Days event, which aims to bring the development community together without the press looming over them like some intrusive specter.

We reported on the Steam Dev Days announcement last month, along with confirmation that press wouldn't be invited. It's not hard to understand why this is the case.

In a press release sent to VG247 today, Valve confirmed that speakers from AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Oculus, and Unity will present sessions at the event. It all kicks off in the company's native Seattle, January 15 and 16.

At the event, Valve will discuss its new Steam Machines, the Steam Controller, and give attendees a chance to try out the units for themselves. You can find more updates regarding the event over at the Steam Dev Days site.

What do you make of the event so far?
