Well, there we go. Best ‘next gen’ game this Christmas by a long way. Maybe one of the highest rated of the year at this rate.

    Can’t freakin’ wait! :)

Zelda on 3DS and Mario on Wii U. Doin’ it right.

I hate living in Europe right now.

But then I will have now a week with Zelda before Mario comes. Getting both at the same Day would maybe just make things Complicated.

yeah, take your time with zelda first. it’s better like that anyway. playing too many games at the same time isn’t fun, at least not to me. stresses me out. i will try to hold out for both for a while because of ps4 and all that. i’ve spend my gaming budget and then some already. but man, cannot wait for zelda and mario. so looking forward to it.

Someone on GAF put it well:

“Nintendo with their backs to the wall, guns blazing.”

Why anyone would like to see them multiplatform is beyond me… It would be like cutting the balls off a TRex.

@11, I know… Nintendo are knocking it outta the park recently, good to see them making great games.

  33. Dragon

Heh, looks like its got the same freshness as SM3DL 3DS, the last mario that felt very fresh to me. Looks like just the system seller Wii U needs for the holiday. Great scores too.

Hopefully it will revitalise Wii U sales.

Well at least brokeback Clupula and Dragon aren’t with him.

How about you stop telling me what to do over the internet. As if I’m going to listen to you. lol

Looks like the U finally has its first new killer app, and right as the next gen consoles launch with decidedly underwhelming offerings too. Well played, Nintendo.

@26 It was a positive Nintendo article, until you showed up. Why are you trying to antagonize so many users by name who aren’t even here?

Your comment in #36 skates dangerously close to homophobic. So what if there were gay people on this board, would you have a problem with that?

Anyway, not the type of thing I was hoping to read in the comment section of a Mario article.

@38 Agreed. Gotta love these SM3DW release dates. Hitting today in the US puts it against the XB1 launch titles and next Friday in the UK puts it against the PS4 line-up, and the game appears to be beating both easily score-wise (Metacritic, holla).

Anecdotally, this has completely worked on me. I’ve got a PS4 coming next Friday but I’ve just pre-ordered the Wii U Mario Bundle on the Nintendo UK Online Shop (as a Christmas present, my girl’s paying two-thirds of it). Just straight-up needed this game in my life and I’m kinda more jazzed about playing this at Christmas than I am the number of games I’m grabbing with the PS4. WiiU’s got a great line-up next year and I never had a Wii, so I’m looking forward to backtracking through Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Skyward Sword etc. Gah, this is a great Winter for gaming!

As a new owner of both machines, do you mind doing a simple comparison on the forums when you get your hands on them?
