Metal Gear Solid: 5 Ground Zeroes will have two Limited Edition skus in Japan, and both are up for pre-order on Amazon Japan.

The premium edition contains the game, the novelization of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and a Revoltech Snake figure which includes accessories such as an assault rifle, handgun, knife, scope, iDroid, and different hands. It will run cost 8,480 yen ($85).

The other Konami comes with a Playarts Kai Metallic Snake version with a rifle, scope, and accessories as well for 13,270 yen ($134).

You can have a look at both editions below, the game’s box art and the figurines.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is coming to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in northern spring 2014. It is a prequel to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Someone please remind me why the next gen versions are digital only outside of Japan? And why the next gen versions get those limited editions presumably exclusive to Japan?

As of right now it’s next gen version (sans the plurality) which admittedly is odd but do you really want Peace Walker: The Novel and a non exclusive action figure? In any case the current gen (should we be saying that still?) gets the premium edition as well.

I’m taking more issue with the next-gen digital only release than the limited editions goodies, It would be good to have options available.

I suppose when Xbox One and PS4 (EU) launch we should ideally be referring to it as current gen, gets hard when you refer to it as next gen so much.

Amount o’ packaging / marketing -crap
is reaching “Final Fantasy” heights o’ ridicule.
Kojima has no new ideas ., just re -hash.

It might have something to with Japan simply not being up to speed with the whole “buy digital” thing, unlike the rest of the world.

Turns out Japan, the land of future tech and crazy gadgets is actually stuck in the 90′s:

Why stop at just two Limited Editions?

How about an exclusive, one-of-a-kind, Full Metal Gear Experience Edition? The lucky owner gets drunk with David Hayter in Japan, where he tells stories from his many years working on the Metal Gear series.

The night culminates when you and David Hayter decide to infiltrate Kojima’s Japanese compound, Metal Gear-style, and leave a bag of burning dog shit on his doorstep.
