Ubisoft and Square Enix begin stocking each other's merchandise online

Ubisoft and Square Enix have started stocking collectible figures and merchandise on each other's online stores.

In a press release sent to VG247 this morning, Square confirmed it has started stocking items from Ubisoft's Ubicollectible series on its store, such as Assassin's Creed and Rabbids figurines. In addition, new PLAY ARTS -KAI- edition models of Assassin's Creed 3 hero Connor and Black Flag's rogueish lead Edward Kenway will release in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Uplay shop will stock PLAY ARTS -KAI- figurines depicting Tomb Raider star Lara Croft, Hitman lead Agent 47 and the Final Fantasy 13-2 edition of Lightning.

In a statement, corporate executive at Square Enix Shinji Hashimoto said, “We’re very happy to be able to announce this new cross-promotion as a part of our on-going partnership with Ubisoft. Ubisoft’s titles and characters are a perfect fit with the quality and craftsmanship of Square Enix products and we look forward to offering more in the future.”

Alain Corre, EMEA executive director at Ubisoft added, “By adding Square Enix’s strong brands and high-quality merchandise to our Uplay Shop, we’re making it easier for videogame fans to find what they’re looking for no matter which company it comes from. Plus, the new Assassin’s Creed character merchandise is a great asset to the brand, especially in conjunction with the release of the biggest Assassin’s Creed game ever!”
