Ryse: Son of Rome will miss some multiplayer features at launch, Crytek confirms

Thursday, 7th November 2013 12:08 GMT By Dave Cook

Ryse: Son of Rome will ship without the game’s online ‘Challenge Editor’ component, associate producer Michael Smart has confirmed.

It follows this new Ryse: Son of Rome gameplay trailer, and Stace’s hands-on impressions from Microsoft’s pre-launch Xbox One showcase.

Speaking with DigitalSpy, Smart confirmed that the editor – which applies to the game’s Gladiator multiplayer component – “won’t be available at launch.” It allows players to create custom playlists of events and maps.

Smart added, “Right now we’re discussing when that’ll be available,” and added that SmartGlass functionality will be part of the mode.

You’ll find my Ryse: Son of Rome multiplayer preview through the link. I wasn’t all that impressed.

@4 Because people aren’t robots and can only do so much?

One of these days game developers will actually figure out some sort of reliable routine for game development. The most notable highlight of the launch of this new generation of hardware is how basic and limited its launch games are in anything but visuals, and delays.

Don’t worry, pay the season pass and you’ll get the game you should have gotten at launch.

God, gaming is getting so bloody tiresome and boring.

By the time #RyseChallengeEditor ships for #XboxOne, most of our crunching team will be laid off. #RyseFacts

@7 I’m the first person to get excited about new games and ideas and hardware, but this shit is just fucking boring.

@8 I wouldn’t say boring, but incompetent. The more gaming becomes mainstream the more companies will try to make profit out of it, regardless of consequences and results.

It’s visible from miles that these consoles are rushed as hell. But if they get the day-1 fools… emh I mean buyers fork the $$$ it’s a win situation.

    Capitalism and shit like that…

And the DLC game begins again. Tired of hearing about incomplete games being pushed out to have us pay for the rest in dlc.

Stop bitching no one said it will be priced dlc. GTA Online has yet to implement this either and it will be free so it could be free as well for Ryse.

    Ryse up and stop Bytching.

Speaking of boring. GTA online is now quite boring for me. And im sure im not the only one who feels that way. For Gods sake ive been robbing liquor stores for the past month like a mouse on a treadmill waiting for content which is taking forever to release.

I hadn’t even heard there would be a challenge editor. They totally could have gotten away with saying “Hey bonus, there’s a challenge editor now” in 6 months, lol. Oh well.

Of course it’ll be paid DLC, that’s literally where a lot of companies make their real profit these days.
