Nvidia Shield update adds Console Mode, brings GameStream out of beta

Nvidia has issued a significant update for its tablet-like Shield device, adding two major features.

The update is described as "massive" on the Shield blog, but two major features stand out from the rest. The first is Console Mode, which turns the handheld "into a portable living room game console".

The second is that GameStream is out of beta - so the ability to stream PC games to your handheld is now officially supported.

The update also brings the latest version of Android 4.3 Jellybean to the device, and adds support for "thousands more Android games" via Gamepad Mapper.

The video below has more details.
