Battlefield 4: Flood Zone map gameplay shown in new PC footage

Battlefield 4′s Flood Zone map has been showcased in a new, unofficial video captured from the PC version of DICE’s shooter.

The footage was taken by DSOGaming reader ‘Ghost Rider LSOV’ and can be found here. It’s watermarked so I won’t nick his clip.

It shows a flooded Chinese town being explored in Defuse mode. The map can become flooded by players which then changes all land vehicle spawns into boats. It’s worth noting that Defuse mode restricts Battlefield 4′s maps, so this appears to be a smaller version of Paracel Storm’s environment. We’ll know more soon.

Battlefield 4 is out October 29 in the States and November 1 in the UK and Europe for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’ll also launch on PS4 and Xbox One.

    @1 Could be DICE wonderful net code too. I was playing with friends the other night and came face to face with one of them. On my screen I shot 1st right in the face but he still killed me. On the kill cam I saw he was still 100%. I told him this was BS, how could he still be at %100…

    He told me that on his screen I didn’t even shoot! We both had ping of about 20 ms.

    Anyway, can’t wait for this. Game looks great!

    @2 That’s because Dice has been using client side hit detection since I believe BF3. This means that what you see is usually delayed by around half a second. So if you see someone running towards you, chances are he’s already fired a few rounds at you, before you even see him firing.

    with Client side hit detection, when you shoot someone, it sends the data to the server, checks if its possible, then back at you, and the person getting shot. This is where the half second delay happens. This also explains why you keep getting shot/killed when you already ran behind cover during a firefight, the data is delayed, so the second you’re behind cover, theres still the data of the hits that hasn’t reached you yet, which ends up with you getting hit while in cover. Allot of the times it looks like you get killed in like, 3/4 shots, while the enemy on their screen has already been firing at you for half a second. This is why BF3 is so easy to hack. People could (And certainly do) use hacks/scripts to change the damage certain guns do. They could simply just give their guns a 10% damage boost, and you’ll never be able to kill them in a 1 on 1 faceoff because they’ll do more damage. And its almost impossible to catch them because they’re playing the game normally, but they just do more damage.

    Its a terrible system, and its sad to see that they’re still sticking with it. I wont be getting BF4 now anymore, thats for sure. The hit detection is what ruined BF3, and if its still here then its going to give people the same bullsh*t, and make it just as easy to hack/script as BF3.

    Theres a slider in BF3, which reduces the amount of movement data send to the server and back to the client, which helps this issue. But what that does is make everyone look like they’re rubberbanding around, since it cuts corners on the pathfinding for other players on your client. Making it look like people are taking instant 60 degree turns without even seeing their character turn. It looks terrible like that. So dice basically gives you two options. Play the game with the delay, or play the game with terrible pathfinding. Choice is yours!

    And ping barely has any factor in bf3, unless you’re running around with +250

    @3 Yeah, unfortunately I thought low ping would help but this changes nothing.
