Batman: Arkham Origins reviews have begun, all the scores here

Friday, 25th October 2013 08:05 GMT By Dave Cook

Batman: Arkham Origins reviews have begun, and as ever we’re collecting all the review scores as they drop here.

It’s an interesting game, seeing as it was developed by Warner Montreal, rather than Rocksteady. I had the pleasure of interviewing the team regarding the game’s prequel plot and darker edge. We’ll have our own impressions soon.

Now then, those scores are as follows:

Eurogamer – 7/10
AusGamers – 7/8/10
Polygon – 7/10
Gamespot – 6/10
GameStar Hungary – 8.6/10
OXM – 8/10
IGN – 7.8/10
Videogamer – 8/10
OPM – 8/10
CVG – 7/10
Xbox 360 Achievements – 92/100
Game Informer – 8.50/10
GameFront – 86/100
El33tonline – 4/5
Kotaku – Yes

Got a score we’ve missed? Post it below and we’ll add it when we can.

I started playing a bit this morning before work and immediately it does feel very familiar, having a quick scan through the reviews that seems to be the main problem.

I’m not really worried as I think the Arkham games are solid in terms of gameplay and if it’s just more good story (which seems to be a positive in the reviews) then that’s more than enough for me.

    Looking forward to playing more.

@12: “I’m not really worried as I think the Arkham games are solid in terms of gameplay and if it’s just more good story (which seems to be a positive in the reviews) then that’s more than enough for me.”

Exactly what I was thinking. I really have no problem with more of the same when it comes to the Arkham series.

This smacks of ‘B’ team release while the ‘A’ Team makes the next ‘proper’ sequel, ala IW and Treyarch on CoD.

I’ve played the beginning mission, so far it is an Arkham game. So it doesn’t suck, runs smoothly and looks great. I’ve not played farther in yet, but the new team has done the franchise justice so far.

I think, the lower scores compared to the others, is based on the game being to similar to previous games.

@21 I just wish that would apply to some other franchises out there as well …like,I don’t know, certain first person shooter(s).

Has a popular series ever changed hands and maintained quality?

    It’s rare.

This is a classic example of over saturation IMO.

I know people love the franchise, but I really thought it was starting to run it’s course with the second game. I felt AA concentrated the gameplay much better than the sequel, which started to show the problems with a more ‘open world’ approach.

    This game wasn’t really needed.

I wish they had moved on a tried another superhero.

well the last arkham city was a letdown, only good thing was mr freeze boss fight. SO this game can’t be any worse.

As mentioned before, more Arkham Batman is never a bad thing. I’m still purchasing after work.
