Call of Duty: Ghosts PC only requires 40GB of space, 6GB of RAM

Thursday, 24th October 2013 01:43 GMT By Ewan Miller

Call of Duty: Ghosts will only require 40GB of hard drive space on PC, rather than the 50GB an unofficial system requirements list Nvidia released last week. However, the game will still require 6GB of RAM and a 64-bit operating system.

Below are the official Minimum System Requirements:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit
CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom™ X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better
Memory: 6 GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 40 GB
Video: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 450 / ATI® Radeon™ HD 5870 or better
Sound: DirectX compatible sound card
DirectX®: DirectX® 11
Internet: Broadband Internet connection for Steam and Online Multiplayer.

Are you ready for the game’s launch on November 5? I bet there’s going to be a lot of upgrading going on in the next few months as people bring their PCs in line with new console requirements.

No not really they are just using higer res textures and models and even using something similar to ID Tech 4 with Mega texture which do need a lot of space.

About time they start using 64-bit for casual games and ditch 32-bit.

the game supports 4k resolution on PC, with official 4k support comes higher res textures, with high res textures size goes crazy :D

Just imagine how long it would take to download 40GB. This is why we need Google Fiber speeds… or else PC gaming will stagnant itself.

@11, Yeah. It is weird. HD 5870 rapes GTS 450… and GTS 450 is a minimum. Who wrote this crap.

@9 For me, less than 2 hours. If I had the best connection I can currently get, it would take ~30 minutes (175 Mb/s, fiber to home).

That fish AI sure needs a lot of computing power.

@9, cut the crap. I’m going to download this game in less then 10-15 or 20 minutes.

“only” 40GB… Glad they ditched 32bit though. I hope more games follow suit.

And if I want the disc version? That’s 5 discs thereabouts. Call me lazy but that’s pushing it. Hopefully they release a blu-ray version.

  25. lubu

you know, 40GB HDD recommended dosen’t mean 40GB data on the disc or 40GB setup.exe file, it maybe 20gb and installs 40GB on HDD, or it maybe 20GB and installs 20GB on HDD but needs 40GB free space on HDD to run, like most games

  26. pcbros

Doesn’t Killzone install at over 50GB?

Pretty sure a lot of games will be using large HDD space.

    @25 – Good point.

    Update my PC?

The only upgrade I’ll be needed for the next gen games is a bigger hard drive or two.

  28. Keivz

I’m aware that sometimes the disc size and install size are a bit different. But comparisons with games of this size are few. The only one that comes to mind is Max Payne 3–it had 35 GB recommended HD size and shipped on 4 discs, which is still quite a bit. Hardly a stretch that a 40 GB game would need 5 discs, or ‘thereabouts’.
