Sony’s Greatness Exchange lets you trade in Gold trophies as sweepstakes entry for prizes

Tuesday, 22nd October 2013 21:50 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

PlayStation Network players can earn prizes by exchanging their Gold trophies as entries into a “Greatness Exchange” sweepstakes. Prizes range from an all expenses paid VIP trip to QuakeCon 2014 or an all expenses paid trip to Amsterdam to visit Guerrilla Games which also comes with a $750 food gift card, two copies of Killzone: Shadow Fall, and a gift bag. Nice. A “Mystery Box” prize will also be up for grabs comes November 15 on PS4′s launch day. We doubt it’s a boat but you never know. Check out the official webpage for more details. Thanks, Shack.

Hmm that’s pretty cool, to bad I don’t aim for gold trophies though, never thought they would ever be worth anything.

As a Xbox guy getting a PS4, what are Gold Trophies and how are they different than achievements and regular trophies?

@5 instead of receiving a certain amount of points like you do from Achievements, Trophies have 4 levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum. You get them based on difficulty or story progression. For example, you’d get a Bronze for doing something easy like finishing the first mission or finishing a side mission. Where as a Gold trophy would task you with finishing the game, or doing something like having a level 5-6 wanted level without dying for 30 minutes, that kind of thing. You get Platinums for obtaining all other Trophies for a set game, which is like getting every Achievement which for some reason I can’t do on either console
