Target cancelling PS4 pre-order bundles containing Watch Dogs or DriveClub

Saturday, 19th October 2013 15:24 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Target seems to be cancelling PS4 pre-order bundles which contained Watch Dogs or DriveClub – both of which were delayed into 2014 earlier this week.

Instead of offering a substitute, various Kotaku readers have informed the site that their orders have been cancelled, and that they will have the option to pre-order bundles starting next week on October 25, through a “first come, first served basis.”

It seems only PS4 bundles are being cancelled at present, as the article doesn’t mention Xbox One, which Watch Dogs was also set to release on.

Last week, Amazon and GameStop both stated the companies would honor all pre-order bundles with the latter offering the option of getting the console at launch and Watch Dogs upon release, or switching out for a different bundle.

Amazon also offered alternatives to its customers.

After rumors of DriveClub being moved into 2014 surfaced earlier this week, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirmed the delay yesterday.

Cancelling WD bundles for the 4 but not the One?

Interesting tactic. The big retailers never cancel customer orders and turn down their cash without good reason.

@1 Well the report never mentioned Xbox One – that doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

BTW Cort – where the HELL have you been?????

Well, Target is going to get some bad publicity here. No idea why anyone would preorder from there, unless it was a last resort.

@3 – Actually the people who delayed the games should get the heat.

Amazon still kept the orders just changed them to Launch Edition PS4. Target could have done the same exact thing instead of boning all those consumers.

I feel bad for the people that lost their preorder, but this does give me an opportunity to get a ps4 at launch now…

No it doesn’t. Those orders are just lost.

@5 – But isn’t it possible they weren’t getting more standard PS4 consoles to convert those bundles into standards? I’m assuming they were getting X amount of standards and X amount of bundles.

THe bundles are just a game with a console. It wasn’t an actual package like GTA bundle for PS3.

And as I said Amazon just a day later emailed me to say that my bundle was converted to a launch edition. Target could have done the exact same thing.

@9 – Didn’t know it wasn’t a packaged bundle. In that case, Target bombed big time.

They canceled my day one edition xbox one and watchdogs bundle. Hope the pre orders for the 25th are day one editions or I’ll be rather upset.
