Well, was going to pick that up today, looks like I’ve saved a bit of cash! :)

I’m not a huge Sonic fan but it sounds like every other Sonic game in 3D (a complete cluster fuck). The Mario Galaxy style looked promising but now this can be relegated to the bargain bin.

Lol Eurogamer : “a disjointed mess of a game.”

That describes almost all sonic games too me! :)

Sonic really needs a reboot, more than anyone else in the industry. He totally looks shitty anyway.

Wow, I fell for Sonic Cycle once again. Seriously, I’ve been hyped about this game since E3 but these reviews are deeply discouraging. I know one shouldn’t let scores and reviews affect his/her opinion but then again, I tried to stay open minded with Sonic 2007 (or 6?) which turned out to be THE worst platformer I’ve played in ages.

Even notorious Sonic critics on GameSpot staff were saying good things about this game at E3… Now we have to wait for the next Sonic announcement and let the cycle start all over again.

@9 So this game must be about as good as Beyond: Two Souls then! :P

The footage I’d seen of this game looked great and looked bags of fun. Even stuff like 20min developer walkthroughs. Oh well.

@6 They can reboot Sonic all they want but they will fuck it up somehow. Sega needs to sell the Sonic IP to Nintendo and than focus on bringing and marketing their good games to the west.

wow such a mixture, but I love Sonic too much, I loved Unleashed even though it was critic panned and I love generations, Lost World looks great, when you get use to the level design and Sonic’s movement, it becomes better, practise makes perfect, a la Wonderful 101!

This is exactly what we were talking about in another thread though. Sonic is a classic example of shitty games doing pretty good sales figures.

It’s not going to save the Wii U, but im sure it will be one of it’s better selling titles this christmas.

I assume you were talking about Francis btw. I don’t think he ever said: this title will score highly. Just that it will help it’s sales?

Do you mind giving a few more impressions? It looks too fast to be that fun to control?

Yeah, i can’t keep track of him listing every exclusive up until it either fails, rarely succeeds or doesn’t prove his point.

The reviews are mixed. So I wouldn’t say the game failed.

I’d like to try it myself.

    Its all over the place.

Mechanically its sound, it controls well, theres a little odd momentum drop off on the double jump but aside from that its very tight, which makes a real change for 3D Sanic games.

It looks great, and it runs well.

Aside from those technical points its a confused mess of a game, it is more or less just Mario Galaxy with Sanic Hadgehog. The pure running levels, in my opinion work really well, you just hold down right trigger and guide him to the end. There are Red Star coins to collect to open up levels and stages and etc etc. Levels can be revisited.

So are you ready for that one thing, that one thing thats in almost all Sonic titles that makes you grind your teeth?

Lost Worlds one is you can’t go backwards, not even a little bit, its all forwards all the time and if you miss something then be prepared to go through the entire course again in order to catch it. To be fair however thats just for the free-running sprint style levels. There seems to be a nice amount of half decent 2D levels which feels more or less like Sonic 4. Alot nippier than Sonic 4 and the level design has improved alot.

So if you like Sanic 3D games a bit then its a very colourful, fast, responsive and pretty Sonic 3D game.

If you never liked any of them to begin with and to be fair I kinda only like Colours and Generations I can leave the rest, then give it a wide bearth. Wasted potential thy name is Sonic.

    @25

Thanks for that! This summed it up for me:

“Lost Worlds one is you can’t go backwards, not even a little bit, its all forwards all the time and if you miss something then be prepared to go through the entire course again in order to catch it.”

    Yeah, no…

Yeah, well a lot of good games are like that.

It looks like a good game so I’m getting it regardless of the reviews.
