Thursday, 17th October 2013 21:34 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

EverQuest Landmark pre-alpha shots of a keep built using the game’s voxel tools have been posted by the game’s director of development David Georgeson on Twitter. The free-to-play title ties into EverQuest Next and the games will share the same combat system mechanics and emergent AI system -only the latter may not be used in the same manner in Landmark. Combat won’t be available in Landmark at launch but till be released soon afterward. EverQuest Next and the free-to-play Landmark have not been dated. Shots are below. Thanks, Erthazus.

Slowly but surely I’m falling in love with this. It seems like the best parts of all the online games I’ve enjoyed tossed together. Now, if they reveal that there’ll be a content-focus on puzzles, or that players are able to create them in Landmark for them to to show up in Next, then that’ll be the last box checked.

I was cautious and wary about this one at the beginning, but they’re just determined to win doubters like me over.

This is looking so, so much better than anything else out there right now, they’re realising what people are tired of and what represents fresh, new ideas. And one of the biggest, greatest things about an open platform is the ability to mod software. They’ve taken that to heart.

    So… looking forward to news.

    But yeah, that’s neat.
