Watch Dogs delay won’t void PS4 pre-order bundles, says GameStop and Amazon

Watch Dogs has been delayed to Spring 2014, and seeing as the game came bundled with select PS4 deals, consumers are understandably concerned. However, Several retailers have issued statements and spoken with the press about the issue and some of them have offered alternatives to Ubisoft’s title.

If you missed Ubisoft’s statement on why Watch Dogs has been delayed, you can read it here.

Amazon was first to clear the air over on Twitter and through its Facebook hub with a statement that reads, “For those of you who pre-order the Watch Dogs PlayStation 4 bundle—don’t worry—you will still be getting your Playstation 4 (without Watch Dogs) based on your current delivery estimate. We are adjusting the orders now and will update you once we know more.”

Amazon has said it plans to honor all Watch Dogs bundles this November, and to stay tuned for more updates.

GameStop has said it too will be honoring the pre-order bundles, and will be contacting customers who had either the PS4 or Xbox One versions pre-ordered.

Our local store told VG247 that customers can either choose a different bundle – which may have a price difference – or they can keep their current order, get their console at release, and then pick up or receive their pre-ordered copy of Watch Dogs upon its release.

Did you order a Watch Dogs PS4 bundle? Let us know below.

Yes I did. Killzone and this. Might pick up AC or COD instead. Resogun is also a must too.

@2 You obviously wanted a rushed and buggy product then. There is no other logical reason behind your statement.

Yep I’d pre-ordered a watchdogs bundle with amazon. Now swapped it to a Killzone bundle which looks dull but pretty.

Excuse my frustration, but to answer your question no I didn’t want a rush product. And where are you getting this information from that the game was buggy? Ubisoft showed no form of hesitation when showing this game at almost every gaming event and correct if I’m wrong but they been hyping this game up past the point of no return. So again I ask where are you getting this information that the game was buggy?

@3 The issue isn’t that they delayed the game, but that they pushed the release day back so close to launch. The issue is compounded even more by the existence of launch bundles that include the game.

I’m all for delaying a game if it leads to be a better product at the end, but I can totally understand why people would (and should) be extremely frustrated by this, especially if the game was one of their main motivations for buying the console at launch.

@5 Lets be realistic. You don’t delay a game a few weeks before release by a whole six months unless its has major issues. Bugs, glitches and a general lack of polish are clearly part of the problem. They’ve never had any playable code of the game on the floors at events for people to try out for themselves, which is quite telling.
