Pokemon X & Y moves over 1.8 million units in Japan, GTA 5 moves a respectable 386,727 units

Pokemon X & Y moved over 1.8 million units in Japan in one day, according to Media Create, topping the charts for the week of October 7-13. Yesterday, Nintendo announced the games had moved over 4 million units combined worldwide within two days. Another new entry on the charts, Grand Theft Auto 5, didn't do too shabby considering it had to go up against Pokemon: the PS3 version debuted at number two with 360,115 units moved and the Xbox 360 version moved 26,612 units for a combined total of 386,727 units.

Monster Hunter 4, which was the top selling software for four weeks in a row came in a respectable third on the chart with 110,208 units sold, bringing its lifetime total to 2,652,824 units.

Other high-profile debut titles for the week included: Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, Fairy Fencer F, and F1 2013 along with three other new titles from SEGA, Compile Heart and Spike Chunsoft.

On the hardware side, the only Xbox 360 title to land in the top 20 was GTA 5, which means the hardware spike of 221 units over the week prior can be attributed to Rockstar's title as looking over the top 30 on NeoGAF, there isn't another 360 title included on the chart.

Meanwhile, 3DS LL and 3DS sales soared with the former moving 141,245 units compared to 85,885 the prior week and the latter moving 72,325 units over 37,102 the week prior.

However, Vita sales are the big news this week: the week prior, sales only hit 3,538. This week, sales hit a massive 60,166 units thanks to the new 2000 model being released.

PS3 sales were up by a couple thousand units give or take, and sales of PSP, Wii U, and Wii declined over the prior week.
