Angry Birds movie signs directors from Sony and Disney

The Angry Birds Movie has found its directors, netting talent from both Sony and Disney.

Deadline Hollywood reports that the project has scooped 19-year Disney veteran Clay Kaytis. He was recently animation supervisor on Tangle, then animator on Wreck-It Ralph.

He's joined by and Sony's Fergal Reilly, who has served at Sony since 2003. Reilly was a storyboard artist on Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and its sequel, as well as Hotel Transylvania. He's also head of story at Sony Pictures Animation.

Both directors have a long history in animation and will be working alongside Rovio as it develops the film in-house.

We reported a while back that animation legend Jon Vitti has signed on to write the movie. Get the details here.

The Angry Birds Movie launches worldwide on July 1, 2016.
