Call of Duty: Ghosts co-op game mode outed by leaked achievements – report

Monday, 7th October 2013 16:16 GMT By Sherif Saed

Call of Duty: Ghosts may be getting a horde-like cooperative game mode according to this report. The mode is allegedly called Extinction and is probably similar to Treyarch’s zombie mode.

Beware of some story spoilers in those achievements

A list of secret achievements for the upcoming shooter appeared on Exophase. The list shows achievements like “Complete all Extinction challenges and escape”, “Escape with all four players” and “Escape 1st time,” which suggest some sort of survival co-op mode where up to four players fight, well, something.

The eagle-eyed dudes at MP1st have spotted the game mode on the title screen in the recent Squads trailer.

We have no idea if you’ll be fighting zombies, aliens or rogue soldiers. We will however find out soon enough as the game launches on PC, PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360 on November 5.

    For **** sake.

How hard is it to make campaign co-op!?!? And no, I don’t buy the excuse that it ‘has to make sense with the story’. That shit never stopped Halo from being awesome in co-op (online AND local).

Seriously, if Valve, Bungie and Epic still see the Value in local co-op, what’s Activision’s excuse?

P.s. That expandable ad is ******* irritating. Its white background matches the rest of the site and it auto-expands whenever you roll your mouse over it (which is EVERY time I scroll down to comments.

@2 Yeah, I really don’t get that either.

Obviously it’s easier to lead one guy down a corridor and show him cool stuff, which is singleplayer CoD in a nutshell, but I don’t see anything in the average CoD campaign that would really suffer from another player helping out. Except maybe you’d die a lot.

I think at this point if they add co-op campaign they’ll have to do it really well, since it’s been asked for so long, it can’t just be an afterthough. Gears of War style maybe.

@5 I don’t care how hackneyed it is. I just want to be able to party story modes in games with my better half. She and I have exhausted all the decent co-op games this gen.

You cant have the impressive in-game set pieces that directly touch the player when the devs have to account for more than one. Instead you have to settle for “Looks! A big thing in the distance!” set piece, which is what you get in games with co-cop campaigns like Halo & Gears.

CoD basically IS horde mode though. You move to one cover location, then you kill a wave or two, and then you move to the next cover location.

And then sometimes in between cover locations shit happens once you hit a trigger. Or maybe you hit the gimmicky minigame.

And then usually someone shoots you in the face and kills your character, and that usually happens once or twice.

    Because shocking!
